Technical

The free online demo is the same as a production database your company will use. The difference is anyone can become a new user in the demo system and in your system, you assign new users. All the programs are identical.

This system was built from the ground up using the model-view-controller paradigm.

The presentation layer is JavaServerPages and the Beans and Servlets are written in Java. All of these run in Tomcat Servlet/JSP Container and Apache Web Server. The backend data server is PostgreSQL and all server components run on the Linux operating system platform.

Fixed a problem that caused double billing.  Modified the style sheet to affect changes to buttons.  Added ability to email billing statements.  Added totals to aging reports.

More improvements added.  Added mechanism to add hints to prompts.  See login page.  Fixed some errors with internationalized date and currency formatting. Fixed error in electronic orders.  Added begin period date for closing periods.

Added Holidays to time reporting.  You can define your holidays, set the type of holiday, and calculate the holiday dates.

Added a material list and exploded list with roll up costs to the Bill of Material (BOM).  Also added a company control to select the inventory costing method.

Completed a major change from template tags to a template filter.  This change reduced the number of pages and should increase performance.  The only visible change in the application is the title of each page will begin with the name of the application, CoreVI.

Added JasperReports. Future reports will now be generated with iReports and JasperReports for export as xml, csv, pdf, and xls files.  Fixed the sidebar menu for IE browsers.

Changed all the table reports to use a property file and xsl translation.   This allows greater flexibility and reduces coding. Added an administrator link so I can access your accounts more easily.  Created a new ECommerce module for selecting and testing payment processing merchants.

Added notification points that can be turned on or off.  These use the existing notification architecture to notify the person on coverage and escalate on specified intervals until resolved.

Time Reporting is a new module for entering and approving timecards for your employees.  Customer discounts were add to provide demo customers with a 100% discount.
